Palliative Care Connect is a suite of navigation services that increase access and information to palliative care and bereavement support in the community. As part of this a dedicated Aboriginal-specific navigation service provides culturally safe guidance for Aboriginal people and their families living with serious illness or nearing the end of their days.
Aboriginal Palliative Care Navigators offer practical, emotional, and bereavement support while also assisting health, aged care, and community service professionals in delivering culturally respectful approaches to care. The service is available statewide over the phone or in person in Port Augusta and Whyalla. To reflect the importance of this work, Ngarrindjeri artist Jordan Lovegrove composed an art piece symbolising the palliative care patient journey.
