Aged Care, Older People and Palliative Care - August 2026

Janelle, care finder based at Country & Outback Health in Port Augusta teamed up with Julie a member of the Hawker District Memorial Health Advisory Council at the Hawker General Store! The Store is more than it might seem, as it regularly serves as a community hub for the area. Hawker is a small rural town with a population of approximately 300 people in the Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network region.

Janelle shared “I was pleased I took the opportunity to be available for the community and raise awareness of the care finder program”. Janelle also visited the local hospital, and Medical Centre while in the area. Janelle continued, “highlighting how to improve access to aged care services and other support for older people in rural communities is vital, so being there in person with the Health Advisory Council was so important”

Janelle had been introduced to the Health Advisory Council through her partnership with the SA Local Network (Department of Health Disability and Ageing), Engagement Team also based in Port Augusta. One connection always leads to another.
