BreastScreen SA is back on the road

Country SA PHN Newsletter February 2025

Caring for South Australian women from ocean to outback

BreastScreen SA provides free breast screens every 2 years to women aged over 40. A breast screen is currently the most effective screening test for breast cancer for women who have no symptoms of breast cancer.

A free appointment with BreastScreen SA takes just 15 minutes and can detect breast cancer at an early stage, improving treatment options and health outcomes.

BreastScreen SA has 9 fixed screening clinics in metropolitan Adelaide, including clinics in Aldinga and Mount Barker, and 3 mobile screening units that travel to more than 40 locations across South Australia every 2 years.

In February 2025, the mobile screening units are visiting Port Lincoln, Victor Harbor, Berri, and Gawler. Find out more about BreastScreen SA locations.

Women aged over 40, especially 50 to 74, are encouraged to book a free appointment online or by calling 13 20 50. Women do not require a doctor’s referral to book.

Health professionals can find out more about breast cancer screening and eligibility, as well as patient FAQs and resources on the BreastScreen SA website
