BreastScreen SA visits over 40 locations

Caring for South Australian women from ocean to outback

BreastScreen SA is South Australia’s dedicated breast cancer screening program, providing free breast screens (screening mammograms) every 2 years to women aged over 40, especially 50 to 74.

A breast screen is currently the most effective screening test for breast cancer for women who have no symptoms of breast cancer. A free appointment with BreastScreen SA takes just 15 minutes and can detect breast cancer at an early stage, improving treatment options and health outcomes for women.

BreastScreen SA has 8 fixed screening clinics in metropolitan Adelaide, including one in Mount Barker, and 3 mobile screening units that travel to more than 40 locations across South Australia every 2 years.

In future Country PHN newsletters, we will feature a regular column from BreastScreen SA including information on their upcoming visits to country locations.

Women aged over 40, especially 50 to 74, are encouraged to make a free appointment online at the Breast Screen SA website or by calling 13 20 50. Women do not require a doctor’s referral to book.
