Diabetes and cardiovascular disease, with cardiologist Dr Philip Tideman, will cover the various aspects of cardiovascular disease in patients with diabetes, given that CVD is by far the largest cause of mortality in this group of patients. In particular the mechanisms of CVD in diabetes will be discussed along with treatment considerations to reduce risk and improve outcomes from CVD in diabetes will be discussed.
Reference to newer medications in diabetes management and their impact on CVD outcomes will be explored
All rural GPs, registrars, interns and students are invited to attend any of the continuing professional development sessions, which start at 7pm, with networking and light refreshments at the end of the session. There is no cost to attend.
