Changes to the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) items for chronic disease management have been deferred by the Department of Health and Aged Care (DoHAC) from 1 November 2024 until 1 July 2025.
The additional time will support all practices and providers, including GPs and allied health providers, to be ready for the changes to these important services. Previously, these changes were due to come into effect from 1 November 2024.
Find out more on the Department’s website, and you can also read RACGP’s statement on the deferral of changes.
Chronic disease management webinar postponed
As a result of the Department’s announcement to defer the planned MBS item changes to 1 July 2025, RACGP’s upcoming webinar on changes to MBS chronic disease management items (due to take place on 9 October 2024) has now been postponed.
RACGP will reschedule this event next year in advance of the new implementation date for the changes.
