The Country SA PHN Psychiatry Workforce Training Project is a new initiative, designed through collaboration and in partnership with the Mount Gambier Medicare Mental Health Centre (delivered by FocusOne Health), state-based Rural and Remote Mental Health Services (SA Health), and Country SA PHN.
This exciting initiative, funded by Country SA PHN, has created a new opportunity for a psychiatry trainee to undertake an accredited training post as part of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) Fellowship Program in a primary mental health care service.
Focusing on adult psychiatry and addressing the needs for the community in Mount Gambier, it provides increased availability of psychiatric services in the Mount Gambier Medicare Mental Health Centre. Country SA PHN is thrilled to bring a new training opportunity to a regional location, as well as enhancing the capacity of the primary mental health care sector to train the future psychiatry workforce.
This is an important partnership activity that has been made possible by the collective efforts of the Rural and Remote Mental Health Service (SA Health), FocusOne Health and Country SA PHN, with a shared vision of increasing equity in access to mental health treatment for people living in country South Australia.
