Diabetes SA - Type 2 diabetes detection and education activity 

On Saturday 1 March 2025, Diabetes SA attended the Mannum Show, providing locals with an opportunity to be screened and tested for type 2 diabetes.

Using HbA1c point of care testing, people identified as being at high risk of type 2 diabetes are able to complete an on-the-spot blood test to measure their HbA1c, a clinical measure of their blood sugar control.

People with high HbA1c levels receive health education from a health professional from Diabetes SA, as well as a referral on to their GP for ongoing care.

The Diabetes SA team will be heading to Lucindale in the coming weeks to run type 2 diabetes screening at the South East Field Days.
