Foundation skills for working with people with Borderline Personality Disorder

This one-day foundation skills training will provide an overview of a relationship-based approach to working alongside consumers with borderline personality disorder.

It provides guidance for health professionals in a variety of settings including; inpatient, acute and emergency care contexts, and community based services.

This training provides an opportunity to obtain both continuous professional development training and on-going skills development.

As a consequence of this training participants will:

  • enhance skills in early identification of BPD and care pathways
  • be oriented to clinical management guidelines and up-to-date evidence-based treatments for BPD
  • be introduced to 5 common characteristics of evidence-based treatments for BPD
  • learn how to implement practical skills and strategies for engaging consumers with BPD in treatment
  • develop an understanding of the key considerations in engaging carers
