GoShare - Palliative Care Messaging Aboriginal Community Elders

For many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples talking about ‘death or dying’ can be an uncomfortable experience. Culturally, discussing this topic can be perceived as difficult and viewing images of a person who has died or using their name in conversation can impact that person’s journey. In recognition of this, warnings are commonly added to protect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples from unnecessary stress.

Country SA PHN is working with Healthily through the GoShare Plus platform to provide messaging from Community Elders and Leaders to encourage patients to talk to their GP about the importance of an Advanced Care Directive.

The program will be offered to general practices and Aboriginal Medical Services by supporting staff to identify eligible patients to send SMS messages funded by Country SA PHN.

If your practice would like to be involved with the programs please contact [email protected] to register your interest.
