Talunga Clinic and the GoShare Pneumococcal Recall Program

Talunga Clinic in the Adelaide Hills has been identified as a general practice looking after their community after registering for the GoShare Pneumococcal Program that is being offered free to all general practices in country South Australia.

A recall SMS was sent to a total of 309 patients aged 70+ who were eligible for the Prevenar vaccine on the National Immunisation Program.  In the 4 weeks before the recall activity, the Practice had administered to 6 eligible patients aged 70+ with the vaccine. In the 4 weeks after the SMS reminders were sent, 53 patients aged 70+ were vaccinated. This is a 9-fold increase in vaccination rates and equates to 17.2 % of patients who received the SMS making an appointment for a Prevenar vaccine. These patients are 73% less likely to be hospitalised with community acquired pneumonia.

Congratulations to all the staff at the clinic for looking after your community.

The Pneumococcal Recall Program is being offered to general practices until December 2024. To register your interest fill out the form or email the Primary Care and Digital Support Team at support@countrysaphn.com.au
