The HealthPathways SA team had the pleasure of joining other HealthPathways teams from across Australia recently at the HealthPathways Conference in Brisbane. We congratulate HealthPathways Clinical Coordinator Litza Myers on presentation of our work in the domestic and family violence space.
The work allowed the team to integrate clinical pathway development with research on domestic and family violence disclosure and response in primary care settings.
The Domestic and Family Violence suite is a growing collection of invaluable pathways for the hardest of consultations.
Recent work with Dr Suzi Pedler, who updated the Post-exposure Prophylaxis for HIV pathway to reflect recent guideline changes, means it is now available to clinicians. Contraction of the HIV virus after exposure can be greatly reduced, with more than an 80% success rate, by the timely prescription of PEP medications.
The updated pathway offers a summary of access point links, comprehensive management guidelines and multiple information resources for the clinician and client. The pathway outlines both initial investigations and follow up testing once the 28-day prophylaxis is completed. It complements our HIV Diagnosis and Initial Management pathway and the HIV Pre-exposure Prophylaxis pathways.
HealthPathways SA is a partnership between SA Health, Adelaide PHN, and Country SA PHN.
