Improved referral pathways for primary mental health care

The Head to Health Intake and Referral Phone Service, delivered by Neami National, is here to make it easier for health professionals and GPs to connect clients with mental health supports.

Head to Health use their knowledge of local service providers, programs, costs and waiting times to match your clients to timely, appropriate, and - where possible - local mental health supports.

When you refer to the Head to Health, you can expect:

  • contact with your client within one business day of the referral being received
  • an assessment to determine what level of support your patient requires, utilising evidence-based decision support tools and clinical judgement
  • a copy of the assessment and any referral outcomes, including options for additional supports
  • local knowledge of waiting times and what services are available in country SA regions, to best connect and match clients based on their needs and preferences
  • staff to check in with our client to ensure they have received contact with the mental health service
Where do I send my referrals?  

You don’t have to wait; referrals are accepted via Head to Health now!

Referrals are accepted from GPs, mental health professionals, other service providers as well as self-referrals.
