Country SA PHN Newsletter November 2024
HealthPathways SA now has a new suite of pathways focussed on epilepsy. More than 150,000 people live in Australia with epilepsy and most adult epilepsy patients are being managed by their GPs. Our pathways aim to standardise the level of care for epilepsy patients in the primary care setting while supporting GPs and making their workday a little easier.
These pathways include:
- Epilepsy in Adults - a general management pathway.
- First seizures in Adults - helps support GPs in a first presentation, with comprehensive step-by-step assessment routines and information on referrals.
- Epilepsy and Pregnancy - offers guidance to help care for patients planning and managing a pregnancy while taking antiseizure and other medications throughout contraception, preconception, pregnancy, delivery and breastfeeding.
- Antiseizure medications - offers an overview of the various medication types with links to further information.
HealthPathways South Australia is a partnership between SA Health, Adelaide PHN and Country SA PHN.
