People in the Adelaide Hills region will now have access to free, walk-in mental health support and care with the recent opening of the Mount Barker Medicare Mental Health Centre.
Located at 2 – 4 Cameron Road, Mount Barker in the Cameron Road Business Park, the new Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a welcoming space where everyone (age 16+) can access free and confidential mental health information, services and supports. No appointment, referral or Medicare card is needed to access support. Whether you have experienced mental health challenges in the past or this is your first time reaching out for support, everyone is welcome.
The Mount Barker Medicare Mental Health Centre is open extended hours and offers immediate help and follow-up for people with mental health concerns and/or are in distress, as well as support for carers and families of people experiencing mental health distress. The Medicare Mental Health Centre can also help connect people with other social supports, like housing and employment.
Staffed by a multidisciplinary team, including qualified mental health clinicians, peer workers with lived experience, specialist alcohol and other drugs workers, and nurses, the Mount Barker Medicare Mental Health Centre provides multi-disciplinary, wrap-around and evidence-based care.
Mount Barker Medicare Mental Health Centre is the fifth centre to open in South Australia and joins other regional services located in Mount Gambier and Port Pirie.
