Three general practice nurses who have been attending the monthly Practice Nurse Network meetings have volunteered to be “nurse champions” to provide advice and support to attendees. Holly Chatfield is the first nurse champion we would like to introduce:
My name is Holly Chatfield, and I am a nurse practitioner in Port Lincoln, SA. I have worked within my current clinic since 2012 and to this day still love every part of my job.
I started off many moons ago as an EN and have worked my way up the ranks between having 3 children and moving from rural WA to Port Lincoln. I have a post grad diploma in child and family health and in my spare time most weekends I am often seen sidelining a football oval overseeing trainers and dealing with injuries as a sports trainer.
I work across all meta- specialties as a NP from primary health to palliative care, mental health and do dabble with some aesthetic med/lasers etc and not one day is the same.
I am very passionate about rural health and the expansion and support of nurses expanding their scopes where they can, we have so much more to offer and contribute to primary health and we need to get ourselves out there! I love educating others and always happy to answer any questions anyone in this space has, we need to support and encourage each other.
