Vaping Reforms

From 1 July 2024 the Therapeutic Goods and Other Legislation Amendment (Vaping Reforms) Act 2024 changed the way vapes can be sourced, supplied and advertised. From 1 October 2024 pharmacists will be able to supply vapes with a nicotine concentration of 20 mg/mL or less, to people 18 years or over without a prescription subject to certain conditions and state and territory law.

Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Guidance released – Supporting smoking and vaping cessation: A guide for health professionals

Guidance on smoking and vaping cessation support has been produced for the changes to Australia's vaping regulations, as of 1 October 2024. This document has been prepared by the RACGP Smoking Cessation Expert Advisory Group and reviewed by key stakeholders.

Smoking during pregnancy is the most common preventable risk factor for pregnancy complications. Quitting can reduce the risk of adverse outcomes for women and their babies. Find the latest Clinical Guidelines for Supporting Smoking Cessation in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding developed in collaboration with the Royal Women’s Hospital Pharmacy Department and an updated online training module Supporting Pregnant Women to Stop Smoking to support pregnant women who smoke to quit.
