WANTED! General practices in country SA interested in the management of patients with insomnia and obstructive sleep apnoea

Insomnia and obstructive sleep apnoea are the two most common sleep disorders managed in general practice. However, GPs report limited access to tools, knowledge, treatment and referral options to effectively manage these sleep disorders.

Researchers at Flinders University are running a NHMRC-funded research trial to provide GPs, practice nurses and practice managers with evidence-based tools, education, treatment and referral pathways for insomnia and sleep apnoea.

  • Practices (with at least three interested GPs and one practice nurse) will be provided with resources, equipment and specialist support to manage patients with insomnia and sleep apnoea.
  • Generous reimbursements available (for control and intervention practices) including patient recruitment, interventions and paid time for GPs and PNs to undertake training.
  • Interested GPs, practice managers or clinics can contact Dr Alexander Sweetman at the Adelaide Institute for Sleep Health, alexander.sweetman@flinders.edu.au for more information.
