Country & Outback Health care finder Team Leader, Deb Whetstone and local care finder Terri Glen were delighted to be part of the day. Deb shared, “The care finder program information was well received with questions about aged care services available in Whyalla, including the real challenges rural communities face with transport and service availability.”
Other speakers invited by the Minister were Services Australia, Whyalla Men’s Sheds, SA Concessions, Whyalla Senior Citizens Club, South Australian Pensioners’ Association, Myall Place, Whyalla Norrie Probus, Whyalla Ladies Probus, South Australia Police and University of the Third Age. Deb said, “The day attracted a good crowd and organising staff said they hope to provide similar events in the future for the community”.
An afternoon tea was shared after all the talks, and everyone had the opportunity to come and chat with Deb and Terri to ask more questions and take home the care finder program information.
Country & Outback Health were pleased to receive a personal letter of thanks from Eddie Hughes’s office following the forum. Mr Hughes requested additional care finder brochures, acknowledging his office receives many queries regarding the aged care system and his office were now “very pleased to learn more about the care finder service”. He believes the care finders and their support provide a beneficial service to many older people in the region.
