The ADEA NDSS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker and Health Practitioner Mentoring Program exists to encourage a mutually beneficial relationship between a CDE mentor and an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Health Worker or Health Practitioner mentee.
The aim of the program is to provide culturally safe and appropriate professional development opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Health Practitioners to develop and use diabetes knowledge. Participants in our pilot program, reported several benefits from their participation: including improved confidence, self-awareness, and clearer career direction.
