Community Advisory Committees

Community Advisory Committees

Patient centred and cost-effective locally relevant care

A critical component of the Primary Health Networks program is the Commonwealth mandate to establish and maintain Community Advisory Committees.

The Country SA PHN has a number of Community Advisory Committees covering much of the PHN region. These Committees are essential to provide the community perspective to Country SA PHN and ensure that decisions, investments and innovations are patient centred, cost-effective, locally relevant and aligned to local care experiences and expectations.

Supporting our Local Health Clusters

Our Local Health Clusters are supported by our Community Collaborations Manager.

Expertise of committee members

The members of these committees bring a range of local, professional, governance and lived experience skills that contribute to an effective committee environment.

Country SA PHN values the range of information these committees provide on local health, education, social and transport issues.

Health Connections
Community

Online collaborative platform for the Local Health Clusters

Health Connections Community has recently been established as part of Health Connections. Health Connections Community is a community engagement platform that allows local communities to connect with their Local Health Clusters who in turn advise the Country SA PHN on local health issues.

In this space you can take part in community forums, respond to health surveys, even just ask the simple question for a personal response. We are always interested in what you think and the key issues of health and wellness in your area.

Occupational Therapy students

This video show cases the wonderful opportunity provided by one of Country SA PHN’s local health clusters to university students and the local regional community.

The Mid North Local Health Cluster (MNLHC) has partnered with University of South Australia (UniSA) for the second time to support fourth year Occupational Therapy students to undertake their Participatory Community Project (PCP) in the Mid North of South Australia – this time in Orroroo.

UniSA students, Laura Magliaro and Ebony Leslie produced this video to demonstrate the success of the project and the benefits it brings to both students and the community. The PCP is designed to provide exposure for UniSA students to rural South Australia. The focus has been on engaging with local community, assessing allied health need in the town and surrounds and is part of their academic rural placement.

The MNLHC arranged, supervised and funded the students accommodation. The Orroroo and Carrieton District Council also supported the project – providing office space and in kind support.

The launch of the results of the project is scheduled for late May.
