The Country SA PHN Clinical Governance Framework defines the scope and responsibilities of the Clinical Councils as it relates to the key aspects of work to be undertaken in the following streams:
Our Clinical Councils will work closely with Country SA PHN’s Local Health Clusters (Community Advisory Committees) to support Country SA PHN to achieve our vision and objectives.
The Clinical Councils are able to encompass a range of functions that support Country SA PHN in maintaining appropriate Clinical Governance of commissioned activities undertaken by Country SA PHN and provide key and timely advice on local community issues.
Ensuring clinically safe, patient centred & cost effective healthcare
The Clinical Councils bring together key stakeholders with expertise in a clinical practice environment to work in partnership and contribute to ensuring that Country SA PHN's decisions, investments and innovations are clinically safe, patient centred, cost effective, locally.
Country SA PHN has established the following topic specific Clinical Councils to provide key links between primary health care providers and the Country SA PHN Board:
A critical component of the Primary Health Networks program is the Commonwealth mandate to establish and maintain Community Advisory Committees (Local Health Clusters).
The Country SA PHN has a number of Local Health Clusters covering much of the PHN catchment. These Committees are essential to provide the community perspective to Country SA PHN and ensure that decisions, investments and innovations are patient centred, cost-effective, locally relevant and aligned to local care experiences and expectations.
Our Local Health Clusters are supported by our Community Collaborations Manager and the Health Integration & Coordination team who are currently in negotiation with other like-minded groups who have expressed an interest in being involved.
We anticipate that we will soon have a Local Health Cluster on Kangaroo Island.
The members of these committees bring a range of local, professional, governance and lived experience skills that contribute to an effective committee environment.
Country SA PHN values the range of information these committees provide on local health, education, social and transport issues.

Online collaborative platform for the Local Health Clusters
Health Connections Community has recently been established as part of Health Connections. Health Connections Community is a community engagement platform that allows local communities to connect with their Local Health Clusters who in turn advise the Country SA PHN on local health issues.
In this space you can take part in community forums, respond to health surveys, even just ask the simple question for a personal response. We are always interested in what you think and the key issues of health and wellness in your area.
