Mental health care in aged care homes
This program targets the mental health needs of people living in residential aged care homes (RACHs). These in-reach services are intended to enable residents of these homes with mental illness to access mental health services similar to those available in the community through the Better Access to psychologists, Psychiatrists and General Practice through the MBS Initiative (Better Access).
Psychological services for RACH residents are adapted to the needs and environment of this group and commissioned in a way that complements personal care and accommodation services provided by RACHs, dementia services and broader physical health and social support.
