Country SA PHN (CSAPHN) commission a range of services and programs to support and build the capacity of the primary health care workforce in rural South Australia. An effective and efficient health workforce underpins the objectives of primary health care to deliver the right care in the right place at the right time.
The right care, the right place, at the right time
Building workforce capacity in sexual health is commissioned to SHINE SA who provide sexual and reproductive health education for GPs and other primary health workers in targeted regions of Country SA : Barossa, Lower North, Mid North and Murray Mallee.
sapmea delivers multidisciplinary focussed education to health professionals throughout the CSAPHN region on the management of diabetes and associated complications, both face to face and via webinar.
Delivery of GP specific education programs are commissioned to GPEx, who deliver a high quality, accredited continuing professional development program on topics that are determined by a needs assessment. Programs are delivered both regionally and via webinar.
Doctors’ Health provide specialised support for general practitioners, registrars and medical students in Country SA around the importance of managing and maintaining their own health and wellbeing. Rural doctors are also able to access a comprehensive check up via outreach visits conducted by Doctors’ Health and network at Rural Retreats and Healthy Doctors Dinners.
Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association practice nurse support program provides an evidence based framework to support the development of nurse led clinics and professional development to support primary health nurses.
To provide multidisciplinary support in general practice the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia delivers the Pharmacists in General Practice Program. This program supports general practice to contribute to the quality use of medicines, improves client safety and fosters medicine self management. Embedding Pharmacists in general practice provides a collaborative service with pharmacists working with patients, their families, general practitioners, practice nurses, community pharmacists and other allied health professionals involved in the care of the patients.
The Immunisation Hub is a joint initiative of Country SA PHN and Adelaide PHN. The program supports immunisation providers with education, direct support, mentoring, advice and advocacy around immunisation issues and data support for the Australian Immunisation Register.
The regional medication management support service is provided by the Drug and Therapeutic Information Service (DATIS) who facilitate Medication Advisory Committees, access to the Therapeutics Advice Line and provide multidisciplinary education across the CSAPHN region.
