Esther Brown has joined the Rural Support Services (RSS) Planning and Population Health team as the Workforce Strategist (Aboriginal), to work with regional LHNs in comprehensive workforce planning that meets Aboriginal workforce needs.
The role has a great emphasis on planning and implementing strategies to recruit, attract, retain, and develop the Aboriginal workforce and focus on building cultural competence in the workforce. Esther will lead the planning and implementation of the Aboriginal Health Practitioner initiative and work with regional LHNs to develop an Aboriginal Health Workforce Forum.
Esther is a Wirangu and Kokatha woman from the west coast of South Australia and previously worked in Port Lincoln Aboriginal Health Service, Flinders University, ABC and Nunkuwarrin Yunti in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander advocacy and engagement areas.
