As an organisation with our heart in the health of the country our people are spread far and wide across the state. Immersed in their communities they understand the way different rural communities tick and how we can best work with them to improve primary health care in country South Australia. Due to our organisation’s geographical spread we don’t get the chance to regularly meet with one another face to face. A perennial highlight on our calendar is always our annual All of Staff meeting which gives us the opportunity to come together as one. Read more...

Transition of the Australian General Practice Training Program
Services Australia - Registration for support payments. As part of the transition of the AGPT program, training support payments will be paid through a Services Australia payment system. The new support payments will commence from semester 1 2023. The new support payments will be available to accredited training practices, supervisors, and registrars. Read more...

Vulnerable Population Vaccinations
Country SA PHN recently funded and supported a pop-up COVID-19 Vaccination clinic at the Port Augusta Basketball Carnival.  Stellar Health provided the clinic administering COVID boosters, providing advice on all immunisation queries and handing out goodie bags for the community members who received their vaccinations. During the two-hour period twenty people attended the clinic with eighteen vaccinations administered. Headspace Port Augusta where also present handing out valuable information to the community.

The National Palliative Care Standards
The National Palliative Care Standards for All Health Professional and Aged Care Services has been developed to complement the National Palliative Care Standards (NCPS) 5th edition 2018, with the aim of supporting better experiences and outcomes for people receiving generalist palliative care. The Australian Government announced a payment for registered nurses working in residential aged care, home care and Commonwealth Home Support Programme settings. Expanded access to COVID-19 oral antivirals for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
From Tuesday, 1 November, eligibility for COVID-19 oral treatments through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, has been widened so that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, aged 30 years or over, will require only one risk factor (from the current list of risk factors) instead of two, to meet the definition of high risk. The CareSearch Information Portal plays a vital role in providing evidence-based online palliative care knowledge for health professionals.  CareSearch has recently produced a series of Guides for General Practitioners which highlight key CareSearch resources to deliver better palliative care within the community. CareSearch has also recently updated and expanded their Nurses Hub to reflect current practice and provide access to more practical information.
