The aim of the MBS health assessment item (more commonly known as the health check) is to help ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people receive primary health care that meets their needs, by supporting their health and wellbeing, establishing their health priorities and plan for good health and encouraging early detection, diagnosis and intervention for common and treatable conditions that cause morbidity and early mortality.
