Rural Health Innovation Fund update

It has been an exciting and incredible start to the year for the inaugural Rural Health Innovation Fund with many events and programs being held for round one grants. Over the last few months, the Rural Health Innovation Fund Coordinator Trudi Penrose-Starr has been building relationships and meeting with grant recipients. It has been incredible for Trudi to see first-hand the difference the funding can make in the wider community.

Trudi went to Kadina to meet with the Barunga Village Stepping On participants, who all thoroughly enjoyed the classes and found them very helpful for creating social connection. They also really appreciated the face-to-face visit.

Our Town Ceduna Side by Side men's mental fitness session held on the 16th March was a huge success with 85 men attending the event. Don Senecca created this event from his own lived experience, and the community has completely rallied around him to make an even bigger difference to the community.

Embrace Activate held their Youth body positivity program in Mt Gambier on 19th March and in Port Lincoln on 9th April. So many caregivers said we need to make this program available to all our students/kids! The young people were so engaged and really took on board the Embrace Collective’s positive message.

The Riverland Youth Theatre held a four-day event from 25-29th April. The series of workshops and events were co-facilitated by artists and allied health practitioners for young friends with disabilities and their families.
