Future of Work Advanced Apprenticeship Program: Build skills for your business

BHP and the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment have formed a partnership to deliver skills development opportunities and to create a pipeline of skilled workers in regional Australia. BHP are providing funding for 1,000 higher education opportunities across target regional areas through short courses and advanced apprenticeships.

Designed with local businesses and regional industry stakeholders to address local skills shortages, the advanced apprenticeship program in the Roxby Downs and Upper Spencer Gulf region will enable advanced apprentices to complete a university qualification in Aged Care and Disability Support while employed with a regional business. The majority of learning will take place on-the-job as part of the course requirements, enabling advanced apprentices to gain practical experience and industry exposure.

The program is available to a range of cohorts, including individuals that are seeking to enter the workforce, as well as existing employees seeking to upskill to take on new responsibilities, or reskill to change job roles, employers or industries. The advanced apprenticeship model enables businesses to:
strengthen their talent pipeline by gaining access to workers with the right skills;
upskill existing  employees and support their career progression; and
lead community growth and regional economic development.
