RSS Palliative Care and Oncology GP Education

The Rural Support Services (RSS) is hosting a series of educational webinars for GPs, palliative care and oncology teams, facilitated by Dr Susan Haynes, RSS Palliative Medicine Consultant. Palliative care case base discussions will also occur between the webinars.

We have an exciting line up of expert clinician speakers on issues commonly encountered in the palliative, aged care setting and oncology. Starting Thursday 31 March, webinars will be on a Thursday at 1pm every 2 months and include case-based discussion sessions.  For people who register but can’t attend the live sessions, recordings will be available.

Confirmed upcoming events and speakers include:

  • Session 1: Immunotherapy Toxicities – Thursday 31 March 2022. With Dr Kate Wislang, Medical Oncologist, Director of Clinical Training NALHN
  • Session 2: Complex Bereavement – Thursday 26 May 2022. With Dr Karin Myhill, Senior Psychiatrist Southern Adelaide Palliative Service
  • Session 3: Radiation Therapy - Dr Susan Wiltshire, Consultant Radiation Oncologist – Thursday 30 June 2022.
  • Session 4: Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia – Thursday 28 July 2022. With Dr Katherine Flynn, Geriatrician SALHN
  • Session 5: Non-Malignant pain in the elderly – Thursday 29 September 2022. With Dr Hima Venugopal, Pain Specialist FMC
