Social Prescribing Roundtable

General Practitioners are invited to an online roundtable (10 July 2023 @ 7pm ACST) exploring their awareness and support for using social prescribing to refer Australian patients to arts activities. Participants will receive a certificate for Continuing Professional Development hours.

Social prescribing is the referral of patients to non-medical interventions, programs, and services in the community. While arts engagement is only one referral option for social prescribing, it has demonstrated especially striking outcomes and will be the focus of this project.

If you choose to participate in this study, you will be asked to participate in a 1-hour online (Zoom) roundtable with other GPs. You will be asked questions about your awareness of social prescribing, any past experience with social prescribing, and potential needs or barriers to implementing social prescribing.

The information gathered from this roundtable will help inform a national survey of GPs to be conducted later this year and will lay the groundwork for future pilot studies in this space.

The study is run by Dr Alex Cothren (Flinders University), Prof. Anna Chur-Hansen (University of Adelaide), Prof. Joanne Arciuli (Flinders University), Assoc. Prof. Tully Barnett (Flinders University), Dr Andrew Linn (University of Adelaide) and Carol Gaston AM GAICD.
